Microsoft today announced the end of support for Office 2010 and Office 2016 for Mac. From today, Microsoft will not be releasing bug fixes, or security updates for these products. Also, Microsoft won’t offer technical support for these products. If you haven’t already started the Office 2010 migration process, you need to start now. Also, to use services like Exchange Online and SharePoint Online, you need Microsoft 365 Apps, Office 2019, or Office 2016.

“While we will not take any active measures to block legacy versions of the Office client from connecting, these older clients will fall out of step with the service enhancements and may present performance and/or reliability issues over time,” said Jared Spataro, Corporate Vice President for Microsoft 365.

  • Office for Mac 2011. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Lync have not been tested on macOS 10.13 High Sierra, and no formal support for this configuration will be provided. Since October 10, 2017, Office for Mac 2011. is no longer supported. This means there will be no new security updates, non-security updates, free or paid assisted support.
  • Microsoft 365, Office 2019, Office 2016, Office 2013, Office 2010, Office 2007, Office for Mac 2011, and Office for Mac 2008 applications can open your documents without any additional action. Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install a compatibility pack.
